Leaders establish reality by the way they talk about something. If a firm leader talks about a situation as unimportant, their followers will not take it seriously. If a leader refers to a decision as ill-advised, others will also resent it. If a leader reinforces a strategy, it will be adopted as the way to go.

Leaders must take heed on how they describe reality, as others will be influenced. Careless words persuade others more significantly than they realize. Their words don’t change the situation; they only influence their team’s experience of it.

“This is a bad decision.” OR “We haven’t worked out all the bugs yet.”

“This new software is making me miserable.” OR “I’m looking forward to when it all comes together.”

Be a leader because your voice is heard. What kind of reality are you creating for those around you?
