Lead by influence.
Refuse to have your attitude to be influenced negatively by others. Don’t go along with the gossip, misperceptions and general complaining. Instead, lead by asserting your positive and best yourself. Soon you will be recognized as a leader worth following.
Lead by listening.
No one ever complained that someone listened to them too much. Stop what you’re doing and look the other person in the eye. Catch not only what they say, but also what they mean. Be the one others go to for perspective and inspiration.
Lead out of purpose.
People are looking for someone who has a vision and confidence in where they are going. It inspires others to get behind you and put forth effort to pursue something extraordinary.
Lead with poise.
Under stressful conditions, leaders emerge to put things into a perspective that elicits action to resolution, not hopelessness that surrenders to the situation.
Here’s the kicker: people look to high performers first. If they don’t deliver, they look to anyone else. So step up and lead, wherever you are.
