I often wonder what you do with these weekly Monday messages. They are meant to move you to pay attention to your professionalism, so here’s your opportunity to determine for yourself how much you use them. I’ve taken the main idea expressed in each of the weeks since the first of the year so you can evaluate yourself.

1/9
Clarify where you should concentrate your efforts and set your development and results goals accordingly.
“A penguin cannot become a giraffe, so just be the best penguin you can be.”
~Gary Vaynerchuk

Harvard Business Review recently published an article on the significant impact of pre-task rituals on performance in stressful situations. What are yours?

1/23
Being valued as your client’s trusted advisor comes because you demonstrate that you make every effort to keep them apprised. Then your clients will trust you—a good place to be.
“Whoever is careless with the truth in small matters cannot be trusted with important matters.”
~Albert Einstein

1/30
It seems that knowing something you should pay attention to doesn’t necessarily translate to actually doing something about it. What’s YOUR ONE THING that you need to change?

2/6
Change is hard enough. True change agents find ways to make it easier for others to do the right thing, not create barriers and reasons to resist it. So keep your elbows in.

2/13
The one question: is it more important to me to choose [this distraction] or to choose [what you should do]?
“Discipline is choosing between what you want now and what you want most.”
Augusta F. Kantra

2/20
A friend and I were discussing the economic value of professionalism and he said, “It’s much better to be referred by others because of who you are rather than just what you do.” Remember to be your best. Demonstrate your professionalism. Give them a reason to refer you.

2/27
This week, when you encounter certain situations, ask yourself if you will one day say “I wish I had” or I’m glad I did?” By projecting your choices into the future, you force clear thinking and make better decisions.

You can read each of these messages in full on my website in the Blog tab.

So, what do you think? Can you point to anything that makes you more than you were a couple of months ago? Or are you still the same?
